JOCKEY Joanna Mason smile always lights up the winner’s enclosure and she can shine at Redcar tomorrow (Friday) as the seaside track warms up for Ladies’ Day at the weekend.

Joanna, who rode out her claim in May, has a live chance on Ruth Carr’s course and distance winner Copper and Five in the feature race, the racingtv.com/freetrial Straight Mile Handicap.

Copper and Five was the first leg of a Redcar double for Mick Easterby’s granddaughter when a polished performance in the saddle saw the six-year-old win by a short-head last September. He goes into this race only a pound higher.

David Egan grabbed the limelight again by winning the Group 2 Queen’s Vase at Royal Ascot on Wednesday, and his dad, John – a veteran of the weighing room – is a welcome visitor to Redcar.

He rides Man Made of Smoke for Welsh trainer David Evans in the opening Start Your Racing TV Free Month Claiming Stakes. The Havana Gold gelding made a promising enough start to be sixth of 11 over five furlongs at Leicester and now steps up to seven furlongs after two subsequent runs over six furlongs.

Connor Beasley is riding better than ever and is just two winners away from his half century. Depending on what happens at Ripon today (Thursday), the 50-mark could well be reached at Redcar, where he has an attractive book of rides.

Tuxedo Junction, trained at Newmarket by James Fanshawe, looks a particularly attractive proposition in the Try Racing TV For Free Now Novice Stakes. The Iffraaj colt was a promising second behind Charlie Appleby’s Falling Shadow in a Newbury maiden last time. Although Tuxedo Junction had no chance with the winner, he was six lengths clear of the third, and Falling Shadow is entered in a Royal Ascot handicap on Saturday.

The clear danger is Simon and Ed Crisford’s Sea The Casper – by the legendary Sea The Stars – who never looked like being caught on his debut at Chepstow last month.

Newmarket trainer Marco Botti is bang in form and was racking up three in a row when landing a 40-1 Royal Ascot winner with Rising Star on Wednesday. He looks to have the answer to the Racing TV Free For A Month Handicap with Fifteenthamendment, a ready winner at Nottingham last time.

Hajjam, trained at Middleham by Liam Bailey, clearly enjoys himself at Redcar, having won over the course and distance four times, and was always doing enough when holding Eldelbar in a claimer at the track on June 2. The latter is a pound better off for a neck defeat so it should be touch and go between the pair.

Fresh from being appointed Richard Fahey’s stable jockey, Irishman Oisin Orr, can land the Watch Race Replay At racingtv.com Handicap (Division One) for his new boss on Time To Rumble. Fahey’s long-time first choice rider Paul Hanagan was on board when the gelding stayed on well to win last time out at Carlisle.

Ey Up It’s the Boss is aiming for a three-timer in the Watch Race Replay At racingtv.com Handicap (Division Two). Trained in North Yorkshire by Tony Coyle, the gelding is up another three pounds but, with Kieran Schofield claiming a very useful five, the hat-trick looks within reach.

The concluding Come Racing On Ladies Day Tomorrow Maiden Handicap looks a tricky affair, with David Evans’ So Smart and Michael Dods’ Proclivity having strong claims. However, Prodigious Blue, trained at Malton by Nigel Tinkler and ridden by three-pound claimer Faye McManoman, deserves to get his head in front after three Redcar seconds.
