GOALKEEPING coach and club favourite Dimi Konstantopoulos has left his role at Hartlepool United.

The announcement comes a day after assistant manager Michael Nelson departed after being replaced by Gordon Young as new manager Paul Hartley puts his stamp on the backroom staff.

Pools are undergoing sweeping changes at the Suit Direct Stadium as they look to mount a push up the League Two table.

Konstantopoulos returned to the club after part of their backroom team at the start of last season after a brief spell as a player on a non-contract basis.

The former Boro keeper had his first spell at the club between 2003 and 2007 where he featured in their League One play-off final defeat to Sheffield Wednesday making 140 appearances along the way.

The Greek shot stopper then went on to have a spell at Middlesbrough becoming a mainstay between the sticks in a side that saw them promoted to the Championship in 2016.
