STUART HALL is hoping to help develop the next generation of World champion fighters – by hosting a series of free boxing masterclasses on YouTube.

The former Darlington fighter, who became only the second North-Easterner in history to claim a World title when he beat Vusi Malinga to claim the IBF World Bantamweight crown in 2013, retired from the ring four years ago.

He has spent a big chunk of his time since introducing schoolchildren and other youth groups to boxing via a series of coaching sessions and tutorials, and is now hoping to showcase the sport to an even wider audience.

Hall has recorded a series of coaching sessions which are available to view free on YouTube, and which show him training and sparring while he explains various aspects of a boxer’s art.

Some, such as ‘Three Tips To Improve Your Jab’ or ‘How To Throw The Uppercut’ are aimed at aspiring boxers, but others, such as ‘How To Build Stamina’ have a much wider appeal, and should help anyone interested in fitness and health.

“I’ve wanted to do this for a while,” said Hall. “When you retire, you can easily find yourself ending up doing nothing. I didn’t want that to happen. The coaching stuff I do with the kids is great, but I wanted something else to give me a reason to get back in the gym and back in the ring.

“Hopefully, there’s something in these coaching videos for everyone. If you want to become a better boxer, there’s loads of tips and hints that should help. But if you just want to learn a bit more about fitness training and exercise, there should be things in there for you too.”

Hall’s videos are available on his personal YouTube channel.
