ON the eve of Sunderland’s League One play-off semi final, Nathan Broadhead has received a call-up to Wales senior squad for their upcoming international games.

Broadhead, 24, receives his first senior call-up to the Wales squad following a season where he has scored 13 goals in 26 appearances for the Black Cats.

The Welsh national side, managed by Rob Page, will face either Scotland or Ukraine in their World Cup qualifier next month after the game was delayed due to the ongoing war with Russia.

Before that, they are involved in Nations League against playing The Netherlands home and away either side of a home based tie against world number one side Belgium in Cardiff.

Broadhead has been a regular for the Welsh Under-21’s in recent years but is looking to get his first outing for his national team once Sunderland have played their League One play-off final against Wycombe Wanderers.

The striker is battling for a place in the starting line-up after working his way back from a muscle problem.
