MIDDLESBROUGH go into tomorrow’s game against Stoke City with a clean bill of health with Dael Fry given the go ahead by the club’s medical staff this morning.

The 24-year-old centre-half has missed the last four games with a calf injury but it set to make his return against the Potters.

Chris Wilder has no other injury concerns in his squad and has a full squad to choose from as they look to put pressure on the Championship top six.

“Dael trained yesterday and he’s come through. I just spoke to the physios and he will train today” the Boro boss confirmed.

“Nobody else. Just a couple of bumps and bruises but that’s normal of a Championship fixture midweek. It’s not ideal that we’ve had to play Wednesday and have a quick turnaround but there is no excuses. This is how it is. We have to get over it and not make that as an excuse.”

Matt Crooks is also available for selection having served his three match suspension for 15 yellow cards this season.

Whilst the Boro boss is full of admiration for Crooks’ physicality and is pleased to have him back, he did admit that there has been conversations with the player regarding the amount of cautions he’s received this season.

Wilder continued: “It’s good to have Crooksy back. We’ve gone through the processes with him.

“I want to see us be competitive. If you’d have seen my body language in myself a couple of times the other night, you’ll have recognised a couple of key moments that mean quite a lot to me.

“We have to make tackles and be competitive. It’s a physical sport. I don’t think anybody wants that to go out of the game. They want it to be sensible from an injury prevention situation we don’t want to get people hurt, doing daft things and going over the top. Putting people’s futures at risk.

“But we’ve got to accept and hope people do acknowledge that it’s a physical sport and people make contract. Obviously from Crooksy’s point of view to pick up that amount of bookings is ridiculous and hopefully he will learn from the lesson of not being able to play in important part of our season.

“It’s undoubtedly hurt us because he’s been a big character and a big player for us so to have him back is good. We have selection issues as I imagine Stoke will.

“We’ve got some bumps and bruises but we’ve got to pick the right team to get a positive result. Whether Crooksy starts or he is involved in the eighteen, it’s good to have him back.”

Wilder is making no excuses for the quick turnaround in games as they come up against a Potters side who have won three of their last four games in the league. But he is hoping that the home crowd can alleviate the pressure and the toll on their players.

With his squad injury free heading into tomorrow’s game, the Boro boss wants to see the supporters give the players something extra at the Riverside Stadium as they look to force their way into the Championship play-off reckoning.

Wilder continued: “We will have tired bodies and they will need a lift at some points and we could do with as big a lift as possible from the supporters who have been tremendous for us all season home and away.

“Nerves are understandable we are all after the same outcome, we all want the club to be successful and the closer you get to success, the more doubts do appear especially when you don’t get results your results deserve and I think at home we have deserved more, but we haven’t got those results. We need to deal with that.”
