LEON DAJAKU will not be involved in Sunderland's Easter double-header against Shrewsbury Town and Plymouth Argyle as he has returned to Germany to receive treatment for an illness, which is beleived to be tonsilitis.

Dajaku, who is on a season-long loan at the Stadium of Light from Union Berlin, has not been involved in the Black Cats' last two matchday squads.

Sunderland head coach Alex Neil has revealed that the 21-year-old has been given permission to return to his homeland in order to treat an ongoing illness issue.

Neil said: "Leon has been ill. He's not been feeling well and he's currently in Germany getting some tests so that we can see how he feels.

"I believe he was initially diagnosed with tonsillitis, but he wasn't able to shake it off and it seemed to get a bit worse, so we've allowed him to go back home and were hopeful that'll he come back fit.

"That's where we're at with Leon, we hope he gets better quickly and we'll see how it goes."
