NEWCASTLE UNITED signed off their warm-weather training camp in Dubai with an emphatic 5-0 win in a behind-closed-doors game against a Gulf United XI led by former Magpie Steven Taylor.
Newcastle’s players enjoyed a worthwhile run-out at the Nad al Sheba sports complex, which has been their training base since they arrived in Dubai last weekend.
The sky-high temperatures meant today’s game was shortened to just an hour, with regular interruptions for water breaks.
With Eddie Howe watching on from the sidelines with the rest of Newcastle’s coaching staff, Allan Saint-Maximin and Dwight Gayle both helped themselves to two goals.
Joelinton also found the net in the 5-0 win, with most of Newcastle’s first-team squad getting a run-out.
However, while Kieran Trippier and Callum Wilson have both stepped up their respective rehabilitation programmes during their time in Dubai, neither was involved in today’s game.
