SPENNYMOOR Town midfielder Rob Ramshaw has committed his future to the club until 2024 after signing a new contract.

The 28-year-old has been with Moors since 2016 after completing a move to the Brewery Field from fellow National League North side Gateshead.

Ramshaw scored the winning goal in the final of the Northern Premier League Premier Division play-off final win over Stourbridge as Moors won 1-0 on the day.

The goalscoring midfielder been an ever present in the side under Jason Ainsley and Tommy Miller and now under current management duo Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley.

Ramshaw said: “I’m really excited to sign a new deal which keeps me here for another two years at least.

“Glen signed a new contract a few weeks ago and that was a big indicator for me to commit my future to the club.

“I’ve been here nearly six years now and I’ve loved every minute of the journey. The last three seasons haven’t been great with Covid and our own performances, but we still have a chance of making the play-offs this season.

“I wasn’t aware of any interest from other clubs and I didn’t have any options, but considering that I’ve done well over the last few years I would be surprised if there wasn’t some interest.

“The new gaffers have been unbelievable with me. They said I was exactly the type of player they were looking for when they first came in.

“All they want is someone who will work hard and give everything for the cause, and that in turn will earn them your admiration and respect.

“After the Gateshead game they said they manage the game as I play it. It’s an all out approach when I sometimes get angry, but they love it and tell me to never change.

“The rest of this season is about reaching those play-off places which would require a good run starting on Saturday at Farsley.

“Beyond that it’s all about getting promoted. It’s what the chairman and managers want and the whole club is built around reaching that next level.“

Manager Johnson said: “Following on his good friend Glen signing last month, this is massive news for the club.

“Rob is already a legend here and his ambitions for the future are higher than ever before.

“His work rate, commitment and attitude has been exceptional since we walked through the doors. He is someone who always leads by example.

“On top of that, he always scores important goals and is always a driving force behind the team.

“We are delighted we will get the chance to work with him for the long term and have no doubts that he will continue to push us forward.”
