MATTY Daly has completed a loan move to fellow League Two side Bradford City a day after being recalled from Hartlepool United.

The 20-year-old, whose parent club is Championship side Huddersfield Town, left the Suit Direct Stadium yesterday after enacting a recall clause in his contract which was allowed to be triggered in January. He initially signed in the summer on loan for the season but manager Graeme Lee cited injuries as the reason for his departure.

However the following day, the midfielder has gone on to complete a move to the Bantams until the end of the current season.

Daly was the clubs top scorer in all competitions this season with seven goals in 28 appearances with five of those goals coming in the Papa Johns Trophy.

Upon signing for Bradford, Daly said: “I really needed the experience at Hartlepool. With it being my first loan, it has made me a better player, and hopefully now I can take that to the next level here.

“I have trained already and it was at a real high intensity. The standard was up there, I enjoyed it and it has been a good first day for me.

“My game is about goals and assists, and that is what the gaffer wants from me, getting in the box. Hopefully, I can do that and help the team be successful this season.”

Head of Football Operations at Huddersfield Leigh Bromby said: “The first six months of the season have been really important for Matty, who has played regular football in Sky Bet League 2 and has really contributed on the pitch, with a good goal return from attacking midfield.

“This new loan at Bradford City will be a really interesting next step for him. He’s got to show he can adapt to another environment and team, and his challenge is to excel in a side that has a lot of expectations of being successful in the division.

“I’m really looking forward to see how Matty fares in the coming weeks and months.”

Meanwhile, forward Mike Fondop was released from his contract at the club after just eight appearances since signing on a free transfer.
