SPENNYMOOR TOWN will travel to National League side Dagenham & Redbridge in the fifth round of the FA Trophy.

Moors were handed one of the toughest draws possible yesterday, with Dagenham sitting in sixth position in the National League table.

The former Football League club beat Southend in the fourth round of the Trophy at the weekend, with Spennymoor seeing off Plymouth Parkway to secure their own place in round five.

Their fellow National League North side, York City, fared rather better in yesterday’s draw as they were handed a home tie in the fifth round against Northern Premier League side Morpeth Town.

Morpeth, who pulled off one of the biggest shocks of round four as they beat Boston 4-3, will head to York’s LNER Stadium on Saturday, February 12.

North Shields are the only North-East team left in the FA Vase, and the Northern League side will host Rugby Town in the fifth round of the competition on the same date.
