DAEL FRY and Martin Payero are back in the squad for Middlesbrough’s home game with Swansea City tomorrow afternoon.

The duo have both completed a full week of training after recovering from injury, and will be hoping to feature against the Swans.

Fry has not played since the 2-0 defeat at Hull at the start of October, and his return ahead of the packed festive schedule represents a timely boost. He faces a battle for a first-team spot, however, with Anfernee Dijksteel, Sol Bamba and Paddy McNair having formed an effective central-defensive threesome in last weekend’s win at Huddersfield.

Payero has been sidelined for a month, with the Argentinian’s Boro career having failed to properly take off since his summer move from South America.

Boro boss Chris Wilder said: “We’ll check on Dael and Martin again today, but they’ve come through the week unscathed.

“As always, to have two such technically-good players back in the fold is great for us. It really strengthens the group.

“Whatever team I’m picking now, with those two boys back in the squad, it’s a lot stronger feel. It’s got a lot stronger look to it than it has been over the last couple of weeks.”
