How did the players fare in Newcastle's 1-1 draw with Norwich?
NEWCASTLE (4-2-3-1):
6 Dubravka: Should have done better with the initial cross as Norwich scored, but largely redeemed himself with a crucial late save from Lees-Melou
7 Manquillo: Returned to the side as part of a back four and helped provide some added solidity down the left-hand side
6 Schar: Played well for the most part, but was almost left with egg on his face as he conceded possession in the closing seconds
1 Clark: What on earth was he thinking? Panicked as he pulled back Pukki and left his side having to play more than 80 minutes with just ten men
8 LEWIS: More than justified his recall to the starting side with an excellent defensive display – certainly deserves to keep his place
7 Shelvey: Produced a handful of excellent long balls and ran himself into the ground in front of the back four
7 Willock: Tempered his attacking instincts in order to produce a disciplined defensive display that helped keep Norwich’s midfielders in check
5 Fraser: Had barely touched the ball before he was sacrificed in order to bring on a centre-half in the wake of Clark’s early dismissal
8 JOELINTON: Was playing as a defensive midfielder by the final few minutes and gave absolutely everything to try to ensure Newcastle hung on
7 Saint-Maximin: Had to play on the counter-attack, but still troubled the Norwich defence with a couple of his trademark dribbles
6 Wilson: Just about held his nerve from the spot and never stopped trying despite an understandable lack of service
Subs:
8 Fernandez (for Fraser, 11): Won the penalty with his header from a corner – goodness only knows why he hasn’t been in the squad in recent weeks
Hayden (for Willock, 72)
Almiron (for Saint-Maximin, 77)
(not used): Darlow (gk), Krafth, Murphy, Hendrick, Longstaff, Gayle.
NORWICH (4-1-4-1):
Krul 7; Aarons 7, Hanley 7, Gibson 7, Williams 5 (Giannoulis 72); Rupp 6; Sargent 5 (Idah 67, 5), Gilmour 6, McLean 6, Tzolis 6 (Lees-Melou 46, 6); PUKKI 7.
Subs (not used): Gunn (gk), Dowell, Placheta, Kabak, Sorensen, Omobamidele.
Man Of The Match: JOELINTON – The Brazilian found himself having to play much deeper than he would have wanted, but he gave absolutely everything to try to keep N
