CHRIS Wilder's first game in charge saw his Middlesbrough side earn a 1-1 draw against Millwall at the Riverside Stadium.

Matt Crooks opened the scoring on 15 minutes before Sol Bamba put the ball in his own net after pinball in the box.

Digital Sports Writer Matty Jones assess how the players did in Wilder's first game in charge.

BORO

6 Daniels – A steady performance from the keeper but his distribution was nowhere near what it should be.

7 McNair – Put his body on the line when needed and played that overlapping centre-back role well.

6 Bamba – Will feel unfortunate to put the ball in his own net but looked comfortable playing out from the back.

7 Peltier – A good game from the veteran. Looked after the left hand side well and provided some overlapping runs in the second half.

7 Bola – Provided a good threat on the left but perhaps should have crossed instead of delaying once or twice. Almost scored with a brilliant effort from distance.

6 Jones – Showed off his bags of pace at times but Wilder will have wanted him to have more of a say in the game.

7 Tavernier – Had plenty of efforts on goal and was trying to make something happen. His decision just lacked at vital moments.

7 Howson – One of his best games for a while. Sensed the danger at the right time and mopped things up really well.

8 Crooks – Might look like a generous rating but he looks really comfortable in that number eight role and is a big presence. Should have scored right at the end though.

6 Sporar – Looked really good running at the Millwall defence but was in a battle. Subbed at half time after one too many knocks.

7 Watmore – Really bright in the attacking areas and played a big role in the goal for Crooks.

Subs:

5 Coburn 45’ – Was brought on for the injured Sporar with the hope of influencing the game but fell really short. Looked off the pace.

6 Hernandez 71’ – Provided some much needed spark but his end product wasn’t there.

NA Ikpeazu 86’

Subs not used: Lumley, Dijskteel, Taylor, Lea-Siliki

MILLWALL: Bialkowski 7, Hutchinson 6, Cooper 7, J Wallace  7 (Smith 85’), Malone 6, Saville 7, Leonard 6, Bennett 6 (Ojo 68’), Afobe 7 (Kieftenbeld 81’), B.Mitchell 6, Ballard 5

Subs not used: Long, B Wallace, Bradshaw, Evans

Man of the Match: Matt Crooks – Got the goal that earned Boro a point and showed just how useful he can be in a Chris Wilder side.
