JACK Lambert has been rewarded for his recent performances at Darlington by signing a fresh new deal with the club.

The midfielder has scored in his last two appearances for the Quakers in comprehensive wins over Guiseley and Kettering.

Lambert has become a big part of Darlington's recent resurgence in a run of form that's seen Alun Armstrong's side pick up four wins from seven games.

The Quakers boss said: "I've known Jack since he was 14-years-old and I know what he's got in there.

"It's just getting it out and getting him in that position and getting the work ethic off him.

"When the lad got in touch in the summer saying he'll come in and train so I could have a look at him, I got him on non-contract because I know the ability is there. It was just how much he wanted it.

"Watching him in training, he's getting better, he's getting stronger. We had to be patient with him because we had to get him fit because he missed pre-season.

"The kid was waiting for his chance and chomping at the bit and to be fair he's been fantastic since he's got them opportunities."

Darlington are back on the road tomorrow where they make the trip to Chester FC.
