MIDDLESBROUGH manager Neil Warnock has heaped praise on tomorrow night’s opponents in a game that he says they aren’t expected to win.

Luton Town have made a similar start to the season as Boro. They sit on exactly the same amount of points, 21 from 15 games, with only goal difference separating the two teams in the table.

Historically speaking, Boro’s trips to Kenilworth Road have not been fruitful having not won a game there since 1974. They draw 1-1 last season away from home.

After their three match winning run came to an end at the weekend, the Boro boss will be hopeful there isn’t any danger that they could go on a three match losing streak with Luton and West Brom to come this weekend before the international break.

He even compared the Hatters to the Galaticos when the two met last season.

“Luton last year started really well against us (last season). They always started really well. We thought we were playing Real Madrid for 20 minutes” Warnock said.

“But then we came into the game and we more than held our own. I’m hoping that whatever team we put out we can start on the front foot because they are a good side and Nathan (Jones) has done a great job with them.

“People seem to relish in certain situations. He went away to big clubs or supposedly big clubs. It’s only when he came back into that environment that he realises what he’s got we’re sure he’s loving every minute with the lads. They are a genuine bunch of lads.

“With West Brom, it’s different altogether. They’re expected to be at the top so it’s two different games.

“Whatever the fitness difficulties that we have, we’ve just got to get on with it and see what comes up.

“They play good football Luton, passing it around.

“Everybody has got a bit of physicality about them. They’re centre backs are strong lads but I think overall, you don’t give them enough credit really.

“The games I’ve seen them, they’ve played really well. Passing it and moving it and you’ve got to be on the front foot to compete with them.”

A first win at Kenilworth Road for Boro in 47 years could move them back in the Championship play-off places.
