Darlington will have two new signings available for their FA Cup tie at home to Chester on Friday.

Jack Lambert and Omar Sanyang have been training with the squad recently and have now signed non-contract terms, allowing manager Alan Armstrong to have a look at them in competitive action.

Both played at Blackwell Meadows in Wednesday’s 8-2 win against Shotton Colliery in the Durham Challenge Cup.

“Jack’s in on a non-contract basis. He’s been training with us for a few weeks but I need to see him in games, same as Omar,” explained Armstrong.

“They’ve been registered and I saw how they got on in the game on Wednesday.”

Playmaker Lambert was on loan to Darlington from Scunthorpe United in 2019-20, and then had a spell playing in Iceland before signing for Hebburn last season.

The Northern Echo:

Omar Sanyang playing for Bradford (Park Avenue) last season

Armstrong said: “I know what Jack’s got but I couldn’t sign him last season because I thought we had too many players like him. This time, I don’t think we’ve anyone else like him so he’s back in the fold.

“He’s such a clever footballer, he opens doors. He’s like Adam Campbell, he doesn’t have Cams’ pace but he’s got a lot of creativity.”

Sanyang was last season with Bradford (Park Avenue) and has previously been at Scunthorpe and Tadcaster Albion among others.

Armstrong added: “He was at Scunthorpe the same time as Jack, and it was Kev Dos Santos who told me he was available. He’s come up while we have a look at him and he’s been smashing.

“He’s trained with us for a while, but I need to see him in proper games.”
