BMW motor racing star Tom Oliphant took on a different kind of ‘drive’ ahead of this weekend’s British Touring Car Championship visit to Croft Circuit, as he teamed up with a lucky Kwik Fit competition winner at Blackwell Grange Golf Club yesterday.

Overtaking Oliphant on a circuit may not be an option, but this was Redcar-based racing fan Sam Parker’s chance to out-drive the multiple race winner on the fairways instead.

“It’s a great way to spend some time with a BTCC supporter in a different environment and I hope Sam has enjoyed the day,” said Oliphant. “The serious business begins at Croft on Saturday and I’m hoping to be on the podium.”

Britain’s premier motorsport series will run three races on Sunday, with qualifying on Saturday, with a huge crowd expected to descend on Croft over the weekend.

* Tickets are still available on the gate with free entry for children 12 and under. Those aged 13–15 will need to hold a teen ticket (£3 on Saturday and £5 on Sunday). Adult prices begin from £15 - visit www.croftcircuit.co.uk for full details.
