THORBEN Hoffman has been thrown straight in from the off for Sunderland as he replaces Lee Burge in goal against Accrington Stanley.

The 22-year-old signed for the Black Cats on transfer deadline day on loan from Bayern Munich for the season and makes his first start at the Stadium of Light this afternoon with Burge taking a place on the subs bench.

German winger Leon Dajaku also signed on loan on deadline day but there is no place for him in the matchday squad.

Captain Corry Evans has been recovering from a hamstring injury picked up nearly a month ago and is fit enough to make the bench for the Black Cats.

Hoffman is the only change for Sunderland from their 3-1 win over Wycombe Wanderers before the international break.
