THE transfer window closed at 11pm this evening with the fate of Djed Spence's proposed move from Middlesbrough to Nottingham Forest still unknown.

Forest officials were scrambling to ensure the necessary paperwork was lodged to enable them to push through a move for Spence.

Middlesbrough are understood to have agreed the terms of the deal, but Forest left things so late they were rushing to try to complete proceedings in time.

Sources close to the deal have expressed confidence that all requirements were met and that the transfer would be officially sanctioned.

If things go through, Spence will move to the City Ground on a season-long loan.

The full-back has started two of Boro's Championship matches this season, but Neil Warnock ahs long harboured concerns over his attitude and commitment.
