DARLINGTON'S season opening game against AFC Telford has been postponed after three players in the Quakers squad have tested positive for Covid.

The club say that the positive tests came to light this morning when the players concerned took a test this morning before the game.

Darlington's entire squad must now self-isolate for ten days in accordance with protocol.

A statement on the club's website said: "We share everyone’s deep frustration and disappointment considering that this was the first league game in front of supporters since March 2020. We would also like to thank AFC Telford United for their understanding.

"The priority of the club is the health and safety of everyone concerned and we wish those who have tested positive a full recovery."

The game was due to be held at Blackwell Meadows for a 3pm kick-off. There's been no word yet on a rearranged date for the game.

Elsewhere in National League North, Spennymoor Town kick off their season away to Boston United.
