HARTLEPOOL United have bolstered their squad with the addition of Olufela Olomola after a recent trial period.

The 23-year-old striker has featured in their first two pre-season games, scoring four goals in the 9-1 win over Runcorn Linnets.

Dave Challinor is desperate for forwards following the departures of Rhys Oates, who rejected a new deal to join Mansfield Town, Danny Elliott and Mason Bloomfield and Olomula is the first step in finding a solution to their attacking problems.

The Pools boss said deals are in place for other trialists to move to the club permanently.

The Nigerian-born striker began his career as a youth player with Southampton and made his first senior appearances in a loan spell at Yeovil Town where he'd go on to score seven league goals in 18 league starts.

Olumula sealed a permanent move to Scunthorpe United in the summer of 2018. He failed to make an impression at the Iron and the Glovers came calling again for another loan stint.

A spell at Brunton Park with Carlisle United saw Olomola score five goals in 14 starts but this season is where the striker has found game time hard to come by with just seven appearances all season.

Scunthorpe released the 23-year-old in the summer and Pools have taken the opportunity to snap up Olomola.
