Hartlepool United have confirmed the departure of goalkeeping coach Ross Turnbull. 

The former Middlesbrough, Leeds United and Doncaster Rovers shotstopper has been at the club for over three years. He became a part of the coaching staff on a voluntary basis during times of financial uncertainty at the club. 

He helped stabalise the club's performances on the pitch and avoid relegation from the National League under the tenureship of caretaker Matthew Bates. 

Once Pools kept their place in the National League and Raj Singh took over as Chairman, Turnbull was appointed as a full time goalkeeping coach. 

Since then, he has gone on to nurture the likes of Ben Killip and has been a strong asset to Dave Challinor's coaching staff, helping them achieve promtion to the Football League this season.

Reports suggest the 36-year-old has taken on a scouting role with Premier League sde Chelsea, where he played for four years.

On Turnbull's official LinkedIn profile, he said: "Hartlepool United it's been a pleasure.

"Thank you to all the players and staff I've had the privilege to work with. Met some amazing people, some who no longer work at the football club. 

"The work that goes on behind the scenes at a football club should never go unnoticed.

"Thank you to all the goalkeepers I've worked with. I hope I've helped improve you on and off the football pitch. 

"Lastly,thank you to the most important part of a football club. The fans. 

"I hope you've got your football club back. It's back where it belongs."
