Yannick Bolasie was in attendance for England's friendly win against Romania at the Riverside Stadium yesterday.

The winger was back at Boro's home ground after impressing on loan in the second half of last season, making 15 appearances and scoring three goals.

The 32-year-old winger's representatives have held talks with the club over a potential return to the Championship side having recently become a free agent.

Bolasie's release from Premier League side Everton was confirmed last Friday alongside former Boro midfielder Mo Besic, Theo Walcott and Josh King, who has held talks with Newcastle United over a potential move.

A potential stumbling block over Bolasie's return to Boro may well be what the club can afford for next season.

Neil Warnock and the recruitment staff are working on a limited budget and have already brought in one free agent, QPR goalkeeper Joe Lumley.

However, the club have significantly reduced the wage bill having released striking pair Britt Assombalonga and Ashley Fletcher over the summer.

Bolasie was a popular figure on Teesside with many fans on social media pleading with the wide man to make a return in time for next season but it remains to be seen where Bolasie's future will lie.
