How did the Hartlepool United players fare against Weymouth in front of the returning Pools fans?
Hartlepool (5-3-2)
6 Brad James - Didn't have a thing to do in the first half but somehow managed to keep out Andrew Dallas after he rounded him in the box. Will be happy with a first clean sheet in a Pools shirt.
8 Lewis Cass - Right centre back? Right-back? Right wing back? He was everywhere down the right hand side. Assured defending and positive going forward.
7 Gary Liddle - An assured display from Liddle as usual. Weymouth's front line couldn't get near him.
8 Ryan Johnson - Scored his first goal since Boxing Day and grabbed a first clean sheet since returning to the side from injury. An all round good day.
7 Jamie Sterry - Only on for 45 minutes but a very stellar performance. Linked up very well with Cass as usual.
8 David Ferguson - Demonstrated why he's one of, if not the best, left-back in the National League. Plenty of intent going forward and runs like a duracell bunny.
9 Mark Shelton - Justified his place in the starting XI after being dropped for the defeat to Sutton. Was full of energy and linked up play between defence and attack.
7 Nicky Featherstone - A comfortable display from the captain but he makes everything look commfortable. Another assist for him supplying the corner for Johnson's header.
8 Gavan Holohan - Returned to his best as an attacking midfield presence. Finding pockets of space, driving forward and getting his goal in the end.
9 Rhys Oates - Where would Pools be without him? He was a menace for the Weymouth defence with pace, power and finishing. Turning into an all round striker.
7 Danny Elliott - Was a nuisance for the defence and had a couple of opportunities. Should be pleased with his first start for the club.
Man of the match: Mark Shelton
Subs:
6 Ryan Donaldson - An assist for the wing-back who showed plenty of endeavour down the right. Pools found a lot of joy down that side.
5 Luke Molynuex - Damage was done by Pools by the time he came on but showed a willingness to want the ball.
Zaine Francis Angol - Came on with little time left but contributed to a brilliant afternoon's display.
Subs not used:
Henrich Ravas, Tom Crawford.
