Hartlepool United manager Dave Challinor says they're reaping the benefits of their attacking duo Rhys Oates and Luke Armstrong.

Both forwards are on 13 goals each this season in the National League and are currently in a purple patch of goalscoring form.

Challinor said: "You know what you're going to get with them, they work hard. Take away their ability, a lot of what they do is through endeavour which is great. Regardless of whether you're having a good game or a rubbish game, endeavour remains the same.

"They're slightly different in terms of their strengths so if you put them both together, you'd have some player.

"The combination works really well and it's getting better. We've tried to work on things that get the best out of them."

Meanwhile, forward Harvey Saunders won't be available for this weekend's National League game against Sutton United.

The 23-year-old, who is on loan from League One Fleetwood Town, missed last weekend's 3-1 win over Aldershot with a knee injury.

The Pools boss Dave Challinor confirmed the problem wasn't serious enough for Saunders to have a scan with a recovery expected in the near future.

Challinor said: "It's not really a concern. All scans are potentially precautionary. It was more really to get a definitive answer as to what the issue might be.

"It's started to settle down now. It initially came from the Bromley game where he actually landed on his knee and with the pitch being a 3G surface, the impact was greater than what grass would be."

Despite Saunders' problem, the Pools squad is injury free, apart from long term absentees Joe Grey and Ben Killip, as they prepare to spoil Sutton's promotion party.

"We're in decent shape, similar to how we were last weekend." added Challinor.

"The only one really is Harvey but he's progressing. We're hoping possibly for the following week, we'll get him back training and he'll continue to progress as possibly as he has been.

"As with everyone, we've got a few little niggles but in the main we're in good shape and mentally, we're in a good place."

Pools vs Sutton takes place on Sunday in a 12:45pm kick off at Gander Green Lane.
