Middlesbrough have completed the signing of Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Joe Lumley.

The 26-year-old becomes Neil Warnock's first signing since the end of the Championship season and will join up with the club once his contract comes to end.

He's signed a two-year contract with an option for a further year.

Lumley has recently spent time on loan at League One sides Gillingham and Doncaster Rovers whilst making three appearances for the R's in April, keeping two clean sheets.

He came on as a substitue in goal for QPR's 2-1 win over Boro at the Riverside last month, which is potentially where Lumley could have caught Warnock's eye.

In total, Lumley has made 77 league appearances for Queens Park Rangers after coming through the academy. He joined the club as a 16-year-old from Tottenham Hotspur in 2010 and eventually made his debut in January 2016 against Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup.

With Marcus Bettinelli returning to Fulham after the expiration of his loan deal and no news yet on whether Jordan Archer will be offered a contract before the start of next season, Warnock will be pleased to get a shot stopper through the door so early in the transfer window.

Neil Warnock said: "I'm delighted to have signed Joe. I've always rated him highly and I look forward to him joining us.

"I know he's excited about coming here and he can't wait to play in front of the Riverside crowd."

Meanwhile, French midfielder Isiah Cornet signed his first professional deal with Boro today.

The 18-year-old made 14 Premier League 2 appearances this season, scoring one goal.
