A new era at Spennymoor Town continues to take shape after an announcement of a reshuffle on the board of directors.

After the permanent appointed of Tommy Miler as manager last month, Moors have taken on two new Non-Executive Directors at the club.

Phil Forster, who is currently Interim Managing Director at Teesside International Airport, will a be on the board for the new season while Phil Andrew will become the clubs Business Development Director.

Managing Director Tony Wilson will take more control from Chief Executive Brad Groves as the club drives forward a strategic commercial strategy to further the club’s long term financial security.

Wilson says: “We have spent the last two years looking after the operational side of matters within the football club.

“Now that stage has been completed, including the facilities and academy, the next part of the plan was always to become more commercial.

Spennymoor Town had their season declared null and void last season due to the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The season before, Moors came to within one game of the National League losing a play-off final to Chorley on penalties after a 1-1 draw.

Their season will begin on Saturday 14th August. Their last game was a 3-1 win over Gateshead on December 28th 2020.

Chief Executive, Groves, said: “I am delighted that we now have an extremely strong board in place who can drive the club towards its long term ambition.

“I look forward to its continued success as we head into year 13, and although I will still be heavily involved, I’m excited to hand over more responsibility to Tony and his team.

“I have every confidence in their ability to move the club forward and sustain long term stability, reducing the dependence on myself.”
