How did the players fare in Newcastle's home game with Spurs?
NEWCASTLE (5-3-2):
6 Dubravka: Didn’t have a chance with either of Spurs’ goals and distributed the ball well with his feet
7 Murphy: Added some drive and energy down the right-hand side and is definitely Newcastle’s best option if they stick with a back five
4 Krafth: Was moved inside to play at centre-half, but didn’t look comfortable and got himself into a real mess for Kane’s first goal
6 Lascelles: Won most of his aerial battles against Kane, even if he was occasionally undone by the Spurs striker on the ground
6 Dummett: Looked at home playing as one of the three centre-halves and won a couple of important late defensive headers
7 Ritchie: Gave everything on his return to the side and delivered the cross that led to Willock’s late equaliser
7 Almiron: Helped the ball into Willock’s path for the equaliser and made an important headed clearance off the line at the other end
7 Shelvey: Rediscovered his passing range and threaded some dangerous balls through the Tottenham defence
7 S Longstaff: Justified his recall with an energetic and committed midfield display in which he was constantly harrying Spurs’ midfielders
6 Gayle: Posed a threat and clearly enjoyed playing as a central striker, but wasted two great chances as Lloris made a double save
8 JOELINTON: A much-improved performance from the Brazilian, who scored Newcastle’s opener and had a major hand in their second too
Subs:
5 Saint-Maximin (for Gayle, 70): Buzzed around in the closing stages, but failed to pick out the right man on a couple of occasions
Willock (for Krafth, 78)
Manquillo (for Murphy, 82)
(not used): Darlow (gk), Lewis, Clark, Hendrick, M Longstaff, Anderson.
TOTTENHAM (4-1-3-2):
Lloris 6; Tanganga 5, Sanchez 6, Rodon 6, Reguilon 6; Hojbjerg 6; Lo Celso 7 (Bale 88), Ndombele 8, Lucas 6 (Lamela 63, 6); KANE 8, Vinicius 5 (Son 46, 5).
Subs (not used): Hart (gk), Dier, Scarlett, Winks, Alli, Sissoko.
Man Of The Match: HARRY KANE – The Premier League’s leading scorer had three chances – and scored with two and hit the post with the other.
