STEVE BRUCE admitted Joelinton “should have scored” when he was presented with a golden opportunity to fire Newcastle United to victory over Wolves.
The Magpies’ £40m man was teed up by Jacob Murphy as he stood 12 yards out in the 82nd minute of this evening’s game, with the score at 1-1.
However, while his shot beat Rui Patricio, it did not evade a back-tracking Roman Saiss, who was able to deflect Joelinton’s effort onto the roof of the net.
There was a hint of handball in Saiss’ block, but with the incident not being flagged up by VAR, Bruce felt Newcastle’s number nine should have done much better.
The Magpies manager said: “I think he should score. It was a great run by Murphy, and it was a big, big chance with seven minutes to go.
“When you look at it, I’ve just seen it back again, and it’s a big, huge opportunity, but one we missed.”
