How did the players fare in Sunderland's 1-1 draw at Doncaster?

DONCASTER (4-5-1):

Lumley 6; Halliday 6, Wright 6, Anderson 6, John 7; Lokilo 4 (Richards 63, 5), Smith 6, Whiteman 5, James 5 (Coppinger 82), SIMS 7; Okenabirhie 5.

Subs (not used): Jones (gk), Amos, Williams, Butler, Ravenhill.

SUNDERLAND (3-4-3):

6 Matthews: Wasn’t to blame for Doncaster’s equaliser and made a decent second-half save from Okenabirhie’s low shot

7 McLaughlin: His return to the back three helped make Sunderland more solid and he used the ball effectively when in possession

6 Wright: Defended impressively for 90 minutes, but then paid a heavy price for his error as he failed to deal with Halliday’s stoppage-time cross

6 Flanagan: Won most of his aerial battles on the left of Sunderland’s back three, but let Halliday go past him in the dying seconds

6 O’Nien: Got up and down the pitch with his usual enthusiasm and delivered some dangerous balls into the box in the first half

8 LEADBITTER: Controlled the heart of midfield for most of the game and produced a sensational long-range strike to open the scoring

6 Scowen: Covered plenty of ground alongside Leadbitter, but wasn’t really able to deliver a killer ball into the box

7 Hume: His final ball continues to let him down on occasion, but his relentless running down the flank makes him one of Sunderland’s key performers

6 Maguire: Saw plenty of the ball in the first half, but his threat diminished as the game wore on and the visitors began to sit deep

5 Wyke: Battled away willingly against Doncaster’s centre-halves, but never looked like threatening the opposition goal

6 Gooch: Was involved in most of Sunderland’s best attacking moments, and provided the lay-off that led to Leadbitter’s strike

Subs:

Embleton (for Maguire, 82)

Power (for Gooch, 90)

(not used): Burge (gk), Sanderson, Diamond, Graham, Grigg.

Man Of The Match: GRANT LEADBITTER – It is a shame Doncaster’s late leveller robbed him of a match-winning strike – it is hard to imagine a Sunderland player hitting a better shot all season.
