SUNDERLAND welcome back four senior players for tomorrow’s League One home game with MK Dons.
Josh Scowen sat out last weekend’s FA Cup defeat to Mansfield Town after suffering concussion in the league win over Ipswich Town, but having completed all the required protocols, the midfielder has returned to full training.
Denver Hume, Luke O’Nien and Lynden Gooch also missed the Mansfield game with a variety of minor knocks, but the trio will all return to the squad to face MK Dons.
Tom Flanagan and Conor McLaughlin are unavailable tomorrow as they are on international duty with Northern Ireland, while Callum McFadzean will also miss out after suffering a hamstring problem during Tuesday’s Papa John’s Trophy defeat at Fleetwood Town.
McFadzean came off after scoring at Highbury Stadium, but the full-back’s injury is not as bad an initially feared.
Sunderland boss Phil Parkinson said: “The lads from the other night – McFadzean is not too bad. He’s got a slight tightness in his hamstrings, so he won’t be involved at the weekend. Ollie Younger has a more serious muscular injury. Cieran Dunne who came off has dislocated his shoulder.
“The lads who missed last week – Luke O’Nien has trained towards the end of the week, and the same is true of Denver (Hume) and Goochy (Lynden Gooch). Josh Scowen is also back in training after his concussion.”
