PATRICK ROBERTS has rejoined Middlesbrough on a season-long loan from Manchester City.

The winger's return to the Riverside was confirmed this evening, and he will be available to feature in Saturday's home game against Reading.

Roberts initially joined Boro on loan in January, but his first spell on Teesside was hampered by a serious hamstring injury that sidelined him for four months.

He made 11 senior appearances in the second half of last season, scoring in the crucial 2-1 win at Reading that helped secure Boro's Championship status.

He has been one of Boro boss Neil Warnock's key targets all summer, with his return adding some much-needed creativity in the final third.

"I’m really pleased we’ve been able to get him because I felt we needed that bit of something different," said Warnock.

"I’ve been waiting on Patrick, we all know what he can do and I feel with the current squad we have I can make him a better player."
