How did the players fare in Newcastle's 3-1 win over Burnley?

NEWCASTLE (4-2-3-1):

6 Darlow: Had the occasional wobbly moment, but displayed some real decisiveness coming for crosses in the second half

7 Krafth: His versatility came to the fore as he slotted in at centre-half without any fuss after Schar was forced off

6 Schar: Won some important headers, but was in discomfort for much of the first half and was forced off at the start of the second

7 Fernandez: Won most of his physical tussles with Wood and Barnes, and has established himself as Newcastle’s first-choice centre-half

6 Lewis: Kept Brownhill quiet all evening, although he had to curtail his attacking instincts for most of the game

8 Hayden: Another excellent display at the heart of midfield – slid in to win possession on countless occasions

7 Shelvey: Fired some fine long balls over the top, with the pick sending Wilson clear of the Burnley defence in the first half

6 Hendrick: Battled away gamely against his former employers, but wasted a decent first-half chance by firing into the side-netting

7 Joelinton: Played in the ‘number ten’ role and linked midfield with attack effectively – is definitely showing signs of improvement

9 SAINT-MAXIMIN: Opened the scoring with an excellent individual strike and set up Wilson’s first goal with a fine low cross

8 Wilson: Made it four goals in his opening four league games with a poacher’s finish and a composed conversion from the spot

Subs:

6 Manquillo (for Schar, 54): Did everything that was asked of him as he came on at right-back in the second half

Fraser (for Saint-Maximin, 73)

S Longstaff (for Joelinton, 90)

(not used): Gillespie (gk), Murphy, Almiron, Carroll.

BURNLEY (4-4-2):

Pope 4; Bardsley 4, Long 5, Tarkowski 4, Taylor 4; Brownhill 5, Westwood 6, Stephens 5 (Gudmundsson 68, 4), McNeil 5; Wood 5, BARNES 6 (Vydra 78).

Subs (not used): Peacock-Farrell (gk), Pieters, Dunne, Benson, Brady.

Man Of The Match: ALLAN SAINT-MAXIMIN – The Frenchman was too hot for the Burnley defence to handle – on this form, he is capable of troubling any team in the Premier League.
