ASHLEY FLETCHER has shaken off an injury knock to retain his place in the Middlesbrough squad for tomorrow’s game at QPR.

Fletcher was forced to hobble out of last weekend’s draw with Bournemouth after suffering a knock to the leg and was unable to take part in full training in the first half of the week.

However, his situation has improved markedly in the last couple of days and he is available for selection for tomorrow’s game at Loftus Road.

Boro assistant Kevin Blackwell said: “We took him off as a precaution really. (Chuba) Akpom had just come, so we wanted to make sure we didn’t lose people because we’ve got a massive run of games coming up after the international break. In two months, we play nearly half a season’s games.

“We want to take the right precautions, and that’s really what it was with Fletch. We’re looking to go in with a full squad on Saturday.”
