How did the players fare during Newcastle's 3-1 home defeat to Liverpool?

NEWCASTLE (5-3-2):

6 Dubravka: Didn’t have a chance with any of Liverpool’s goals and made a fine first-half save from Minamino

5 Lazaro: Couldn’t contain Liverpool’s attacking threat from his position at wing-back – this might well have been his last Newcastle game

5 Manquillo: Stood off Origi as the Liverpool striker scored but has done his best since being moved to centre-half

5 Fernandez: Tried to hold things together at the back of Newcastle’s back three but was eventually overrun by Liverpool’s attacking strength

4 Rose: Was beaten far too easily as Oxlade-Chamberlain set up van Dijk’s opener, but has almost certainly done enough to secure a move

5 Ritchie: Looks at home playing as a wing-back, but wasn’t able to make much of an impact in the attacking third

6 SHELVEY: Set up Gayle’s goal with some wonderful quick thinking and has been sharp ever since the end of lockdown

5 Bentaleb: Has produced some useful performances since arriving in January, but is unlikely to be making a permanent move this summer

5 Almiron: Wasn’t able to make much of an impression, but can be pleased with his efforts over the course of the season

5 Saint-Maximin: Had one of his quietest 45 minutes of the season before he was replaced at the half-time interval

6 Gayle: Held his nerve to break the deadlock in the first minute and has answered some of his critics in the last few weeks

Subs:

3 Joelinton (for Saint-Maximin, 46): Offered absolutely nothing in the second half and has to go down as one of Newcastle’s worst Premier League signings

4 S Longstaff (for Bentaleb, 49): Came close with a long-range strike that whistled past the post and could be an important player next season

Carroll (for Gayle, 70)

Hayden (for Almiron, 70)

Watts (for Rose, 74)

(not used): Darlow (gk), Yedlin, Young, Muto.

LIVERPOOL (4-3-3):

Alisson 6; Williams 6 (Alexander-Arnold 85), Gomez 6, van Dijk 8, Robertson 7; Milner 7, Wijnaldum 6, KEITA 8 (Jones 85); Oxlade-Chamberlain 7 (Firmino 64, 5), Minamino 6 (Mane 64, 7), Origi 7 (Salah 64, 6).

Subs (not used): Adrian (gk), Elliott, Fabinho, Shaqiri.

Man Of The Match: NABY KEITA – The midfielder has taken a fair amount of time to get going in a Liverpool shirt, but his recent performances augur well for next season.
