SUNDERLAND have confirmed the departure of striker Kyle Lafferty.

Lafferty's short-term deal expired at the end of the season, and the Northern Ireland international will not be offered a new deal at the Stadium of Light.

The 32-year-old made two starts and nine substitute appearances after signing for Sunderland as a free agent in January.

He scored two goals, both of which came in the 2-2 draw with Gillingham that proved to be the Black Cats' final home game before the League One season was curtailed.
