Spennymoor manager Jason Ainsley wants the same again from his players when their bogey side Telford come to the Brewery Field on Saturday.

Telford have been Moors’ bogey side for several years, ever since they beat Moors in the FA Cup seven years ago after trailing by two goals going into stoppage time at the Brewery Field.

“Ever since we played them in the FA Cup that time, they’ve been our nemesis,” said Ainsley. “They came back from two goals down to draw at our place, and then we led again in the replay before they came back and beat us.

“Since then, I reckon we’ve only picked up a 2-2 draw in league games. This season, they’re a good side which is underachieving – they’re capable of beating anybody on their day.

“We need to keep on winning. We’re finishing a tough month of February today, but we’ve got an even tougher month of March to come.

“If we play like we did last week against Alfreton, then great. Games like that come only few and far between, and it’s important that we continue our winning run for our last twelve games.”

Ainsley is hoping that Hartlepool will extend the loan of midfielder Jason Kennedy for another month.

“Jason has enjoyed his time with us, and we’re hoping that Hartlepool will allow him to stay. He’s a really honest lad, who covers the ground well.

“Everyone has been impressed by his work ethic in training and in matches.”

One loan player who has returned to his club is midfielder Billy Whitehouse, who has gone back to TNS in Wales.

Ainsley will check on the fitness of four players before the game. Carl Magnay, Ben McKenna, Chris Mason and Adam Boyes are all carrying knocks, but Andy Johnson is back in training now after a virus infection.

Telford are currently 14th in the table, and have gained exactly half of their 38 points on their travels.

In the BetVictor North West Division, Marske United have had their last four matches postponed, so they’re hoping that their home game against Ossett United will go ahead. “We’ll be playing three games a week soon,” said manager Carl Jarrett.

In the same league, Dunston are at home to Colne.

In the Premier Division, South Shields are at Gainsborough, Morpeth are at Bamber Bridge and Whitby are at home to Ashton United.
