A Teesside radio and podcast producer is celebrating after his podcast was shortlisted as part of the national British Sports Journalism Awards.

Andy Lamb developed The Netball Show podcast was established in 2017 with the aim of raising awareness and coverage of the sport in the UK, which has a strong but under-served fan base.

Andy is joined on the podcast by ex-Ireland international Sacha Shipway and Natalie Morris and they provide weekly updates from the sport.

He said: “We are nominated in the Audio/Radio category against some well-established broadcasters and the hugely-resourced BBC and talkSport. To be shortlisted in these awards is a huge achievement considering the fact we produce this independently.

"Being the first show dedicated to the UK game, we have established strong relations with players, clubs and nations and are one of the leading authorities on the sport."

At the 2019 Netball World Cup, The Netball Show was the only British netball podcaster providing daily updates at an event that attended by hundreds of thousands.

Over the last year the podcast has also looked at ACL injuries in the game and regularly hear from players, coaches and sportswear manufacturers.

Andy added: “The team produce the show on a voluntary basis further demonstrating our passion for the sport. In this time we have created a much-loved, well-respected podcast from humble beginnings that has lead the way in broadcast coverage of netball in this country. "

The British Sports Journalism Awards are announced in London on Monday, February 24 and the podcast is online at thenetballshow.co.uk and available to subscribe on all main podcast providers.
