How did the players fare in Newcastle's 4-0 defeat at Arsenal?
ARSENAL (4-2-3-1):
Leno 6; Bellerin 6, Mustafi 6, Luiz 7, Saka 8; Xhaka 6, Ceballos 6 (Torreira 81); PEPE 8, Ozil 6, Aubameyang 7,; Nketiah 6 (Lacazette 84).
Subs (not used): Martinez (gk), Sokratis, Kolasinac, Willock, Martinelli.
NEWCASTLE (3-4-2-1):
4 Dubravka: Will not want to see Arsenal’s third goal again after he bundled Ozil’s effort into his own net
5 Fernandez: Defended well for the opening 45 minutes, but was partially responsible for allowing Aubameyang to head home Arsenal’s opener
6 Lascelles: The pick of Newcastle’s defence as he fared reasonably well against Arsenal’s central striker Nketiah
5 Clark: Wasted a good opportunity to pull a goal back in the second half and was injured by a late lunge from Saka
5 Lazaro: Showed some bright attacking touches in the first half, but was at fault for both Arsenal goals in the second
6 S Longstaff: Tried to get Newcastle on the front foot at the heart of midfield – made some useful forward passes
4 Bentaleb: Hard to see what he is doing to justify his place at the heart of the Magpies midfield – needs to step up a level of two
5 Rose: Defended solidly for the most part, but wasn’t able to make much of an impact driving down the flank
5 Almiron: As ever, his effort couldn’t be faulted, but he wasn’t able to get much joy out of the Arsenal defence
7 SAINT-MAXIMIN: The pick of the Newcastle team as his dribbling caused problems – hit the post with an excellent solo effort
5 Joelinton: Held the ball up reasonably well in the first half, but only three of his 47 touches came in the Arsenal box
Subs:
Ritchie (for Lazaro, 75)
Hayden (for Fernandez, 75)
Schar (for Clark, 83)
(not used): Darlow (gk), Lejeune, M Longstaff, Atsu.
Man Of The Match: PEPE – The Arsenal winger scored one goal and set up two more as he ran the Newcastle defence ragged in the second half.
