Goals:
1-0: Jeanvier (24, a scrambled effort by the Boro defence was not enough to keep the header out)
1-1: Wing (58, a drive from 25 yards out hit the post and deflected into the goal)
2-1: Mbuemo (60, a shot deflected off Moukoudi to wrongfoot Pears)
2-2: Fletcher (63, converted a header off a cross by Tavernier)
3-2 Watkins (87, connected to a cut-back by Norgaard and powered his shot home)
Bookings: Tavernier (68, foul)

BRENTFORD (4-3-3): Raya 6, Dalsgaard 7, Jeanvier 6, Pinnock 7, Henry 6, Jensen 7 (Marcondes 73, 5), Norgaard 7, DASILVA 8, Mbuemo 6 (Roerslev 90), Watkins 7, Benrahma 7. Subs (not used): Daniels, Valencia, Fosu, Baptist, Racic
MIDDLESBROUGH (3-4-2-1):
6 Pears: Could have counted himself slightly unlucky not to prevent the second Brentford goal;
7 Moukoudi: An impressive debut by the Cameroon international. Like Pears, unlucky with the second hosts effort
6 McNair: Did well enough in the middle of defence but ultimately came up short
6 Fry: His intervention in the first half to prevent Brentford scoring was the major highlight of his afternoon;
6 Howson: Carried out his tasks well enough in the Middlesbrough midfield, played solidly
7 WING: An excellent strike from 25 yards out earned Boro their first equaliser of the contest
6 Saville: Like so many other of his fellow midfielders, did enough work without the end reward
7 Coulson: Justified the decision of Jonathan Woodgate in starting him instead of Nmecha;
7 Tavernier: Had the best Boro effort of the first half, and supplied Fletcher with his goal
6 Johnson: Nearly put the visitors back into the game;
7 Fletcher: Netted one, almost could have won it for Boro late on but put too much touch on the ball.
Subs:
Assombalonga (for Johnson 63): Worked hard enough in the final third. 5
Nmecha (for Tavernier 76)
Rudy Gestede (for Fletcher 86)
(not used): Mejias, Spence, Clayton, Morrison
MAN OF THE MATCH: Lewis Wing – the midfielder scored the goal of the afternoon with a sweet effort from distance.
