How did the players fare in Newcastle's goalless FA Cup draw with Oxford?
NEWCASTLE (3-4-2-1):
7 DARLOW: Didn’t have a lot to do, but made a fine second-half save to deny Browne and ensure Newcastle did not lose
6 Schar: Was solid enough in defence and tried to offer a threat from set-pieces in the opposition’s box
6 Lascelles: Never looked troubled in a defensive capacity and fashioned a couple of dangerous knock-downs in the Oxford box
6 Clark: Continues to turn in a series of steady displays – handled Mackie well whenever he had to
5 Yedlin: Wasn’t really troubled defensively, but would have wanted to be more of a threat down the right-hand side
4 S Longstaff: Has struggled for form for most of this season and produced another error-strewn display peppered with misplaced passes
4 Bentaleb: An unremarkable debut from the Algerian, who sat extremely deep and wasn’t really a factor in constructing attacks
6 Ritchie: Tried to get forward down the left-hand side and delivered a couple of dangerous balls into the area
5 Almiron: As usual, his effort couldn’t be faulted, but he looked jaded as he struggled to make an impact in the final third
6 Saint-Maximin: Tested Eastwood with a couple of decent low shots, but tried to be too elaborate on a number of occasions
5 Joelinton: Continued to battle away despite his head injury, but wasted Newcastle’s best chance by blazing over
Subs:
6 M Longstaff (for Saint-Maximin, 70): Added a bit of energy late on and threatened with a decent driven effort
Atsu (for Bentaleb, 80)
Hayden (for S Longstaff, 87)
(not used): Elliot (gk), Fernandez, Allan, Allan.
OXFORD (4-3-3):
Eastwood 7; Long 7, DICKIE 8, Moore 8, Ruffels 7; Sykes 6, Gorrin 7 (Hanson 90), Baptiste 7; Browne 6, Mackie 6 (Holland 77), Fosu 6 (Agyei 87).
Subs (not used): Stevens (gk), Mousinho, Thorne, Kelly.
Man Of The Match: ROB DICKIE – The Oxford centre-half needed a headband after his early clash with Joelinton, and then proceeded to mark the Brazilian out of the game.
