SPENNYMOOR TOWN's home match this evening has been postponed an hour before the scheduled kick-off.

Moors, bidding to get back on track after two defeats in a row - and four defeats in five games - were due to host fellow promotion hopefuls Altrincham.

However, at 6.47pm Spennymoor said the game was off and a statement on their website reads: "Spennymoor Town’s game with Altrincham has been postponed following a pitch inspection from the match referee.

"Upon arrival at the ground, and following a lengthy inspection, Mr Herczeg has deemed the surface unsuitable.

"A new date for the fixture will be announced in due course."

At 2.14pm today Altrincham, who are unbeaten in seven league games, announced on social media: "We've had assurances from Spennymoor Town that tonight's game will go ahead. If you were thinking of travelling tonight, do your best to get up there and support the Robins!"

All three scheduled Northern League games have also been called off this evening, at Sunderland Ryhope CW, Newton Aycliffe and Tow Law.
