Spennymoor are looking for swift revenge when they go to Leamington in the Vanarama National League North on Saturday.

Moors lost 2-1 at the Old Windmill Ground a fortnight ago in the Buildbase FA Trophy, which was one of their worst performances of the season so far, and assistant manager Tommy Miller is wanting a much better display as Moors aim to improve on their sixth place in the table.

“We’ll be going there looking for revenge,” said Miller. “We went to Leamington last time hoping to have a good run in the Trophy, but we didn’t play well at all, and it wasn’t to be.

“We want to rewrite that result; Jason and I want a much better performance in the league.

“We know that Leamington is a tough place to go to, so the players have to raise themselves and find something from within.”

Moors still haven’t lost in the league since Gateshead in early September – a run of eleven games unbeaten, five of them away from home.

“We need to keep this league run going, and keep the pressure on the teams around us. We must get back on track in the league.”

Moors had a run out against Sunderland Under 23s in midweek, going down 5-0 at the Brewery Field. “We needed to give some of our fringe players some minutes, and also some of those coming back from injury.”

Moors have a free Saturday next week because of the FA Trophy, and as Miller pointed out; “Winning today is all the more important, because some other teams will be playing next week, and we don’t want to lose ground on them.”

Moors don’t have any new injury problems, so they will choose from a full squad.

Leamington have picked up ten points from their last four matches, and in midweek beat Darlington 3-0 to go 15th in the table.

Meanwhile, defender Callum Williams has left Spennymoor and joined BetVictor club Morpeth.

In the BetVictor NPL Premier, leaders South Shields are at home to Warrington. Whitby are at Stalybridge, and Morpeth are at home to Nantwich.

In the BetVictor North West, Marske United go to Droylsden, and Dunston are at Mossley.

Consett take on Wythenshawe again at Belle View in their third round Buildbase FA Vase. The teams drew 1-1 last week.
