NEWCASTLE UNITED (3-4-2-1):
7 Dubravka: Made a few decent saves when Bournemouth were on top to keep them at bay, including a strong save from Wilson;
8 FERNANDEZ: Looked the part on and off the ball in both halves and he will be a hard man to shift when others return from injury
4 Lascelles: Suffered an early injury and was never able to recover from it and eventually went off with less than 20 minutes played
7 Clark: Second goal in as many games to cap a fantastic turnaround which has seen him deservedly return to the team;
6 Yedlin: Found it hard in the first half against Fraser but settled into the role and then dived to head the winner too
7 Shelvey: Another weekend when he has put the yards in defensively to cover the grass and he looked confident on the ball again
6 Hayden: Complimented Shelvey in the middle by covering plenty yards and that allowed Shelvey to display his array of passes
8 Willems: Looked excellent down the left hand side again and is forming a great understanding with Saint-Maximim:
8 Saint-Maximin: Lit up the play every time he got on the ball the only down side was his finishing which could have given Newcastle extra space
6 Almiron: Unfortunate not to score but showed why Bruce is so keen to keep him in the side with his energy down the right;
6 Joelinton: Put in a lot of work to help those around him even though he didn’t look like scoring himself
Subs
Dummett (for Lascelles 20); Had to slot in and adapt and did so convincingly. 6
Carroll (for Joelinton 83)
Atsu (for Saint-Maximim 89)
(not used): Darlow (gk), Gayle, Krafth, M Longstaff.
BOURNEMOUTH (4-4-2): Ramsdale 7; Smith 6 (Danjuma 78), Ake 7, S Cook 5, Rico 5 (Solanke 66, 5); FRASER 7, Billing 6, L Cook 6, H Wilson 7 (Francis 66, 5); King 6, C Wilson 6. Subs: Boruc (gk), Gosling, Stacey, Mepham.
MAN OF THE MATCH: Federico Fernandez – had to stand tall particularly after Lascelles’ injury and did so to help lay the foundations for a win.
