HARTLEPOOL UNITED heroes of the past are reuniting this weekend.

A team of Pools legends are taking on a team of supporters in aid of the club’s youth academy and supporters trust on Sunday afternoon.

The game has been organised by the trust and also features a Q&A with the former players after the game.

Among those playing are Micky Barron, Ritchie Humphreys, Eifion Williams and Dimi Konstantopoulos.

Barron, who made 374 appearances for the club from 1996-2007 and captained Pools through promotion and play-off campaigns, said: “I think I can speak for all the lads when I say we can’t wait to pull on a Hartlepool United shirt again. They were special times for us all -players, staff and fans – and what we achieved was fantastic for the club and town.

“There was a great team spirit, so much we still keep in touch to this day.

“We don’t see each other as much as we should, but this is a brilliant opportunity for us all to get back together.

“A few of the lads playing came through the youth ranks so they know how important the youth set up is.’’

Other former players lining up are Ben Clark, Tommy Miller, Antony Sweeney, Micky Nelson, Chris Westwood, James Brown and Mark Tinkler.

The game kicks-off at 2pm at Hornby Park, Seaton Carew FC. Tickets for the post-match event are sold out, but admission on the day is £2 (£1 concessions).
