WYCOMBE Wanderers feel they have pulled off something of a "coup" by landing Rolando Aarons on loan from Newcastle United until the new year.

Aarons has secured the services of the Magpies winger until January 13 and he will be in contention to figure against Lincoln at Adams Park in League One on Saturday.

Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth thinks the 23-year-old will be a valuable addition during his time with the Chairboys – knowing how he earned five caps for England Under-20s and has played 18 times for Newcastle in the Premier League, scoring twice.

Ainsworth said: “I’m delighted to be able to bring Rolando to the club and I think it’s a real coup to attract someone of his calibre to Adams Park.

“We’ve started the season really well, particularly at home where we’ve played some fantastic attacking football, and Rolando will complement our style with his pace and ability to run at players, plus create chances for himself and others.

“Wycombe Wanderers has been a great platform for many young loan players down the years, something we’re extremely proud of, and I’ve got no doubt that Rolando can prove what a talented player he is during his time with us.

"I would like to thank Newcastle for trusting us with one of their young stars and now we’re looking forward to seeing him in action.”

Jamaica-born Aarons arrived at Newcastle from Bristol City in 2012 and he was farmed out on loan at Sheffield Wednesday last season, where Steve Bruce had been expected to take him back to before he took over at Newcastle.
