How did the players fare in Newcastle United's 1-1 draw with Watford?
NEWCASTLE (3-4-3):
7 Dubravka: Made excellent late saves from Success and Pereyra and was rock-solid when gathering balls into the box
7 Schar: Claimed his fifth Newcastle goal with a neat finish and poses a threat whenever he breaks out of defence
7 Lascelles: Battled away gamely even though his face was covered in blood in the closing stages – always leads from the front
6 Dummett: Was unfortunate that he deflected Cleverley’s early shot to Hughes and was generally solid thereafter
6 Krafth: Looks at home on the right of the back five and his delivery from the flank helped set up Schar’s equaliser
8 HAYDEN: The pick of the home team as he covered a lot of ground at the heart of midfield – is developing into a top-class Premier League midfielder
7 Longstaff: Gave the ball away too much in the first half, but stuck at it and was an influential presence after the break
7 Willems: Has recovered from a sticky start to his Newcastle career to establish himself in the team – boasts lost of energy
5 Almiron: His effort can never be faulted, but his lack of composure in the final third is now a major concern – wasted two great openings
6 Joelinton: Proved a handful for the Watford defence, even if he never really looked like scoring – has slipped seamlessly into life in the Premier League
7 Atsu: Has added something since returning to the team, and set up two excellent opportunities for Almiron
Subs:
Manquillo (for Krafth, 78)
Muto (for Atsu, 81)
Fernandez (for Schar, 85)
(not used): Darlow (gk), Clark, Shelvey, Ki.
WATFORD (4-2-3-1):
Foster 7; Janmaat 6, Dawson 7, Kabasele 6, Cathcart 7; Doucoure 7 (Chalobah 71), Cleverley 6; HUGHES 8 (Success 71), Pereyra 6, Femenia 5; Gray 6 (Deulofeu 82).
Subs (not used): Gomes (gk), Masina, Sarr, Welbeck.
Man Of The Match: ISAAC HAYDEN – His assist for Schar’s equaliser might have been fortuitous, but he was the best midfielder on display and is now a huge part of Newcastle’s first-choice starting XI.
