GAVAN HOLOHAN has signed a new deal with Hartlepool United.

The central midfielder moved to Pools on a short-term deal which is due to expire at the end of June.

But after impressing during his stay, boss Craig Hignett has moved to offer the Irishman a fresh deal for next season.

Holohan was one of a number of Pools players in for a fitness session at the club's East Durham College training base this morning.

Striker Nicke Kabamba signed last week and Pools remain in negotiations with a number of the current squad about their futures, while talking to a number of other potential signings.

The session this morning was overseen by Jon Witney, the former Walsall boss and Saddlers' physio, who has been working with Pools in recent weeks. He started his position under former boss Richard Money, but has remaiend at the Super 6 Stadium and he has been overseeing a revamp of the club's fitness and rehabilitation set-up.
