Alim Ozturk has been cleared to play for Sunderland in Thursday’s League One Play-Off Semi-Final second leg at Portsmouth.
The centre-half was controversially red carded by referee Andy Woolmer in the second-half of Saturday night’s 1-0 win at the Stadium of Light.
Jack Ross, the Sunderland manager, said after the game the club would appeal the decision.
And an FA hearing this afternoon has rescinded his red card.
A club statement read:“Sunderland AFC defender Alim Ozturk will be available for selection when Jack Ross’ side take on Portsmouth in their League One Play-Off Semi-Final second leg.
“Following a successful appeal to the Football Association, Ozturk’s suspension has been withdrawn with immediate effect after a claim of wrongful dismissal was upheld by an Independent Regulatory Commission.’’
