HARTLEPOOL UNITED have a new winner of their goal of the month competition – Justine Robinson.
The captain of the club’s women’s team took the accolade for her 35-yard effort against Wallsend at the Super 6 Stadium.
Pools were able to play at the club’s home ground and responded with a thumping 7-1 win, as they finished second place in the Premier League of the North-East Regional Women’s Football League this season.
Robinson, who scored four that afternoon and finished as top scorer this season, admitted: “As soon as I got the ball I knew what I wanted to do.
“Some of the other players were shouting at me to just keep the ball moving but I knew it was in as soon as it left my foot, it was just one of those.
“Hopefully I can score a few more like that next season too.”
Robinson’s cause was supported by former England striker Sue Smith and BBC presenter Jacqui Oatley.
